My Time in AGS

My life in general has benefited from my time in AGS. The impact of a small learning community, interdisciplinary learing, and learning expeditions have enhanced my global view and my educational understanding.

The small learning community provides an extra focus from teacher to student, getting everyone more engaged in the curriculum. This provides a more challenging learning environment because the teacher has a better understanding of how you learn effectively and pushes you  to your limit. The attention of the teacher is distributed to a smaller number of students, which means more per student. This has personally helped me learn to the best of my ability and extend my understanding of the curriculum.

The interdisciplinary style of learning helps me bridge an understanding of topics between subjects. The project based curriculum compliments the interdisciplinary system by using a single project for multiple classes, having components from each subject. The bridge created between classes helps me view the topic through multiple perspectives and helps me grasp the concepts learned.

The most influential aspect of AGS is the travel, or learning expeditions as we like to call them. These expeditions give us hands on experience in different cultures and gives us an opportunity to use our knowledge in the field. I have an actual understanding of what the term global view means because of the immersion of different cultures. The travel is the best part of AGS and it is where I learn the most.
